What a busy life!!!

Here's what our life entails right now as we speak:

*  our house SOLD July 13, closing date for new owners is August 16
*  we had 4 weeks to find a rental place
*  we are moving across town this weekend to a very small townhouse for about a
year to save money to buy our next HOME
*  packing is interesting when you are 35 weeks pregnant and you have a 21 month
    old...
*  I am also trying to prepare for the school year and plan for my long term sub...
*  preparing for baby girl to arrive August 31 by c-section, 4 weeks away!
*  We have a very, busy, talkative, patient, sweet, mouthy, independent, 200% boy
21 month old little man in our house
* I am realizing that having a happy, healthy family, and great family/friends are
the most important things in life

Churchisms

Jakson is starting to talk nonstop.  He's growing up soooo fast!

Today in church, about 10 minutes into the sermon, he says loudly "Bye, bye?".  Then, a few seconds later he starts walking out of the pew and he says "I be right back!".  I guess he wasn't having the whole church thing today.

Not long after that Brett and I thought we smelled a dirty dipee.  So I checked Jakson's pants assuming he had taken his usual 9-10am dump.  Nope, it was clean.  The next time I checked, Jakson shouts out in church during the sermon mind you...  "I toot, I toot!!!"

I think we're learning we need to filter our conversations at home a little bit better...

Gotta love the lessons church gives you.  About God AND what not to say around your children.

Playing Catch Up

Okay, you'd think since it's summer and I'm not actually teaching I might be able to blog a little more often.  Obviously not.  Jakson has been enjoying his summer by swimming in our blow up pool,  playing with toy horses, talking about motorcycles, riding 4-wheelers, vacationing at Hoversten Haven, riding his tricycle and wearing his helmet, holding his new cousin Reagan, and learning how to be a big brother.  This past weekend Brett and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary and Jakson got the opportunity to spend the WHOLE weekend with Gramma and Grampa Pekarek.  They took him boating and THEY had a blast.  Captain Jakson got to drive the boat with Grampa and he played on the beach and had a picnic.  I think he wore Gramma and Grampa out!  Tomorrow night Jakson will begin his five night vacation at Gramma and Grampa Hoversten's house while Brett and I go on a trip to Hoversten Haven (our babymoon I guess you could say) with the Nails and Schultzs.  We are looking forward to some adult time, but I am secretly very sad after being with Jakson EVERY DAY since the beginning of June that I will not be with him for FIVE days!  I know he will be in good hands with Paul and Rita and he will have a blast swimming in the big pool and 4-wheeling.  Here's some pics to sum up our summer so far!

I on the other hand, am definitely growing a baby.  I'm 32 weeks along and am starting to feel the last few weeks' symptoms.  Kankles, swollen fingers, uncomfortable sleeping positions, etc, etc.  BUT, it's worth it right?  Brett and I are so excited to welcome our little lady into the world on August 31, which is her Uncle Andy's and a few other family members' birthday.

MORE PICS and summer updates coming soon!  Stay tuned!

Happy Father's Day!!!!

I'm sitting here today as it's a VERY special day in our family.  Not only is it Brett's second Father's Day, it's my brother's birthday and my soon to be niece's birthday as well!  Jakson and I came up to Steamboat Friday afternoon with high hopes we would get to meet baby girl Pekarek this weekend.  I always am a planner, and it worked out perfectly!!!  Brett came up yesterday after work and golfed with the boys.  We grilled last night with Jess and Liz to celebrate an early birthday for Jess.  Mom and I did a lot of talking to Liz's belly.  She clearly was ready yesterday to be a momma.  We encouraged her to eat our spicy dip, that gave me heartburn, so I'm convinced it was THAT that made her water break at 1:45 this morning.  Or it could have been me talking, pushing, and jiggling her belly around before they left.  Yep, I bet that was it.  At 2:30 this morning a very nervous Jess Robert called to inform us they were on their way to the hospital as Liz' water had broke.  Needless to say my mom tossed and turned until 5:30 this morning until it was "OK" to be up for the day.  Did I mention that last night at dinner Jess was saying he wanted to do whatever HE wanted to do today because it was HIS day?  :)  Now he has to share it with his little princess...who is about to be born into the world.  My mom texted me and said the nurse says she has lots of hair.  Jess' heart will be melting in the next few hours.  I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!!

Okay, so we don't really celebrate Cinco de Mayo, I just need a blog title.  We've been sooo busy around the Hoversten Household.  Here's a few highlights of each member of the Hoversten Haven Household:

Jakson Paul- He turned 18 months old yesterday.  Where does the time go?  He also, I believe, has had his first ear infection since getting tubes at the end of March.  A little fluid was coming out of his ears this past Sunday so I called the ENT and it was soooo nice because they just called an ear drop prescription in instead of us having to make a trip in.  Jakson's vocabulary is also skyrocketing and so is the word "No" (by both him and us) as well as timeouts.  Jakson thinks hitting mommy's face is cute and funny, in turn, he gets to sit in his highchair (strapped in of course) in timeout for 2 minutes.  I will ask him as a warning, "Jakson, do you want a timeout?"  and without hesitation, he responds, "NO!" But is naughty anyway and it usually ends up in a timeout.  Let's see...what else is our little naughty one up to.  He calls my baby belly my "butt".  So funny, and it took me a couple weeks to realize he was actually saying "belly button".  Duh mommy.  I guess my immaturity got the best of me.  :)  Jakson's most famous words these days are:  tractor, bye-bye, mo-mo (motorcycle), bath, izzy, Daddy, Jess, Colleen, BIG truck, nack (snack), ball, outside, hot, McQueen (Lightning McQueen), Mayner (Mater)....and many more.  Out of ALL THE WORDS he knows, he still calls me Dada.  Guess what our first task is this summer?

Brett:  Brett just fufilled one of his life dreams.  We drove to Stillwater, Oklahoma to meet his two-wheeled baby named Harley Davidson this past weekend.  I don't think I've EVER seen him smile so much, except for when Jakson was born.  We trailered it back after spending some quality time with the Texas Hoverstens for a couple days.  Brett's very happy and has been spending a lot of time in our garage (which I don't mind at times) and on the internet dreaming of all the Harley accessories he can buy for his new baby.  I like to remind him that we are having a REAL baby in four months and we need to be saving money for that, but right now this seems to be all his mind can handle.  I love him, he's so excited about it and it gives him something else to look forward to when he gets home at night.

Me:  One week ago today we found out that we will be having a baby girl!!!!  Brett and I were dead set on not finding out the sex of the baby, but I couldn't take the pressure.  I just had to find out and we decided a few days before my appt. we wanted to know the gender.  I've had a feeling this whole past 21 weeks that there was a little girl in there.  This pregnancy has been completely different.  I had spotting early on, was nauseous for a week, my boobs feel different, and I've gained half the weight I did with Jakson at this point.  I just knew.  I'm already overwhelmed with PINK thoughts and am going to have so much fun dressing this little lady up.  Even though I'm so thankful for a baby boy first, I've been jealous while shopping with my girlfriends watching them buy all these adorable little clothes and accessories for their little girlies.  Now it's my turn.

21 weeks

Looks just like her big brother  ;)

Us:  We decided to put our townhouse on the market.  We are in no hurry, but would be so excited if it would sell this summer before the baby arrives so we can get settled in a renter home to save some moola for our BIG house.  By big I don't mean mansion, but just bigger than what we have now.  I would give anything for our own yard for Jakson and the new babe to play in and for Izzy to poop in =), for more storage, for a play room, and for a bigger master bathroom.  That's a lot to wish for, but it's definitely reasonable.  Time will tell what will happen, but for the time being, I'm making a lovely honey-do list while he's out in the garage playing and dreaming with Harley.

Spring Happenings

I can't believe how fast time is flying.  Thank goodness the snow has melted and we are seeing green brown grass.  The other day I got excited because I saw worms on the sidewalk after it rained.  You know it's been a long winter when you're excited to see worms...We are all looking forward to warmer weather and being outside more often.  Jakson LOVES being outside.  In fact, he had his first temper tantrum the other day because I brought him inside.  He must be our child!!!

Things are changing every day in our house.  Jakson is quite the chatty, silly little boy.  Notice I said boy and not baby.  :(  He just got tubes put in his ears this morning and is back to his normal self already at noon.  It was disheartening to pass him off to the anesthesiologist thinking that in just seconds he would be in surgery.  Everything turned out fine.  When we went to see Jakson after his tubes were in, he was very restless, which is not Jakson.  You could tell the anesthesia was wearing off and he was uncomfortable.  Poor little guy.  I can't imagine what it feels like to have that pressure off his ears though and to be able to hear clearly for the first time in probably four months.  I wonder how much that will impact his speech now?  He'll be even more of a jabberbox!!!
As you can tell, my new baby is growing!!!  You REALLY do pooch out quickly with number two.  I keep comparing my belly pics to when I was pregnant with J-man and I'm still measuring/looking about a month ahead.  I love being pregnant!!!

Getting a baby bump!!!!!

Well, I'm FINALLY out of the frist trimester.  No more morning sickness thank goodness, but still am soooo exhausted at the end of the day.  Still turning in not far after Jakson goes to bed.  I think I've felt movement from the baby, but it very well could be "other things" if you know what I mean.  I can't wait to feel those first few movements for sure!  I have my second official appointment Tuesday.  Pray that all goes well!!!!
This picture was taken one month ago at 8 weeks...

Now check that belly out at almost 13 weeks...yikes!!!  :)

Here's our proof taken December 26.  A little belated Christmas present to us!
Barely a line, but it was there!!! So excited!

Baby Hoversten 2010

Brett, Jakson, Izzy, and I are so thrilled to announce that we are adding on to our family!!!  My due date is September 7, 2010.  I've been feeling alright, some nausea after eating lunch and VERY tired from chasing around a sick, ear infectioned 15 month old little one, but am very excited!!!!!

A few pics of our little teddy bear at 9 weeks.
