And we have.....

Ear infection in Jakson's left ear AND 6 (yes, I said 6) teeth coming in at once.  Needless to say my "it must be his teeth" excuse that I have been using the last 8 months is finally coming true.  No wonder we've had four sleepless nights.  Thank you Dr. Willams for your diagnosis and the amazing bubble gum stuff!   So long green snot slugs...we're after you!

Costumes with Friends!

Our little group of friends got together with our little ones so they could get one good wear out of their Halloween costumes.  From left to right is Tegan the butterfly princess, Mallie the Flapper Girl, Camden as Superman, Ladybug Taylor, Rylee the pumpkin, and the one who ruined most of these pictures....Jakson the turkey!!!  Neither Taylor or Jakson were big on sitting still for the pics.   It was quite entertaining!!!!!

Take 53...almost

Jakson the Turkey.  I couldn't pass up this costume...even if it was $25.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
For Christmas I would like a brand spanken new camera...a real expensive quality one.  I think it's the Nikon D60 or something like that.  Too bad my husband never reads our blog.
                                                                                                             Love,
                                                                                                             Allison

P.S.  Oh yeah, and I would really like to have a baby sister or brother for Jakson to play with.  I have baby fever.  My baby's no longer a baby after November 4.  Thanks!

Corey and Kiley's Wedding

Jakson had his first hotel/wedding experience for Corey and Kiley's big day!!!! Actually, Jakson only lasted about 10 minutes before he started talking during the quietest Catholic wedding ever. Maybe that was just me thinking that because my child started talking during the ceremony. Needless to say we went and enjoyed the outdoors with cousin Carter Sauce and Uncle Andy. Carter was throwing snowballs outside, yes, snowballs in Omaha in October. Only in Iowa....the wedding was beautiful, the bride was beautiful, and we had an awesome time with friends and family. Enjoy the pics!

Jakson trying on his new shoes from Gma Rita...they were a little big, but will work great for Christmas!!!!! Uncle Cade was stealing his baby goldfish!

Carter says, "Sit still kid, let's get these pictures overwith!!!"

Finally, take 5 of 5. His face is at least toward the camera! Jakson and Carter had fun playing together! We miss Carter!

Omaha Zoo

We were fortunate to take a mini family vacation the second weekend in October to Omaha for Corey and Kiley Skadburg's wedding. We thought it would be a great weekend to take Jakson to the Omaha zoo. It was the first time I had been there as well, so I was very excited for the experience. What a difference from the Des Moines zoo!!! We didn't even get all the way through the zoo...due to a very tired baby boy as you'll see in the last picture. We arrived around noon and left about 2:30. At the D.M. zoo, you could do the loop in probably an hour and a half if you stopped at each exhibit. This was NOT the case in Omaha. We ate lunch in the cafeteria and then headed outside. It was a bit nippy, as you can see from the pic with Jakson in his stocking hat and two right handed gloves (mommy didn't check the gloves before she bought them at Babies R Us...who puts two right handed gloves into a hat/glove set?). Jakson LOVED the penguins, the aquarium, and the giraffes again. We had such a great time and can't wait to go back and see the rest next summer!

Jakson was fascinated with the penguins. They had two baby penguins about 6-7 months old that still had their down feather coats. They were the same size as the adult penguins. Jakson is pointing to them going "uh, yah, uh yeh" in this picture". It was so cute to see him show interest in the animals at this zoo go-around.

A big rhinoceros, a few short minutes before we arrived at this exhibit, the two males had gotten into a fight. You can't see it, but he had blood all over one side of his body from the rhino battle. Poor guy...

J was in aww of all the fish and the pretty colors

A California Sea Lion sun bathing. The pool they were swimming in used to be a pool for people. Cool!

All bundled up in my new stroller...thanks Taylor!
Mommy's cheesing, Jakson is enjoying the scenary!!!!
This was the beginning of a LONG, long (did I saw LONG?) three hours. Jakson had his very first overtired tantrum. I always have been good about giving him his naps and just this one time I decided to NOT BE ANAL and thought to myself...he can handle the short morning nap in the car, lunch, zoo, and have a late nap once we get to the hotel, right? WRONG. He fell asleep in the car to the hotel, for like 15 minutes. Then he sobbed and bawled for about 3 hours straight in the hotel room. Talk about feeling like a bad mommy. Brett went on to the rehearsal at the church while I stayed with Jakson trying to get him to sleep. Every time he fell asleep in my arms, I would try to put him in his pack and play and he would wake up. Finally, about 5 tries and two hours later, he fell asleep for about an hour. We made it to rehearsal dinner AND I will never deprive my child of a nap again. :)

Melissa and Ryan's couple's shower

On October 3, we made the trek back to Steamboat Rock to host a couple's shower for my best friend Melissa and her fiance, Ryan. Unfortunately, Ryan was not able to come and he was stuck back at the Akkerman household quarenteened in the upstairs with H1N1. We were sad he was not able to come, but still had a great time with old friends. This is a picture of all the "younsters" that were invited to the party. We always have tons of fun with this crew.
