I miss my daddy!!!

Brett is gone to Dallas, TX for business. It is the first time that Brett has been away from Jakson since January. It took him a long time to say goodbye when I dropped him off at the airport yesterday...so cute! Jakson is developing quite the personality so I think Brett has been missing him like crazy. He's been VERY crabby pants lately, I'm assuming he's teething. He's making more and more discoveries every day...

what's under here?

Life Before a Child

My mom brought Jakson home with her last night because Brett had golf league and I am helping with Bible School this week. May I just say how DIFFERENT it is without a baby in the house? What did I do with all my time before him? I always considered myself a busy person, but seriously, I wasn't that busy before Jakson. I thought I might have a chance to sleep in today...for the first time in many moons. Instead, my husband brought me breakfast in bed. Isn't it his weekend to be pampered???? I love my husband! I miss my baby. What am I going to do all day?

The Lazy Dayz of Summer!!!

Today was a big day for our baby boy. He had his first pool experience at the Aquatic Center in Altoona and boy did he LOVE every minute!!! We met Emily, Max, and Macy there. (I wonder if they are sick of us yet) Jakson loves his baths, so I knew he would take to the pool right away along with watching the people there in the sweltering 90 degree humidity!!!! Here's some pics of our little excursion!

gnawing on my bath toys...

This whole missin my afternoon nap rocks!!!

He did very well and mostly gnawed on his bath toys the whole time watching the crowd of kids that splashed by every few seconds. When he started getting tired, he started screeching at the top of his lungs and yelling. It was so fun! After about two hours of entertainment, we went home. This is what he looked like when we got to the car...he feel asleep instantaneously as soon as I backed out of our parking spot and slept for two hours at home. Ahhh....I will miss nap time when he gets older!

Officially a pool rat.

Naughty with a capitol N, but quite the shopper...

Last night was the first (of many I'm sure) difficult nights getting Jakson to go to sleep. For some reason he just wouldn't go to bed on his own. He needed a bath before bed so we fed him supper, gave him a bottle, Daddy gave him the bath (which is supposed to be soothing, but a bath with Brett is very OVERSTIMULATING for Jakson because Brett's constantly doing something to make Jakson laugh), and then I attempted to finish the bedtime routine with books, etc. I put him down and he immediately puts his thumb in his mouth. Okay, that's a good sign, you'd think he'd go right to sleep. I went downstairs to getting some blogging lessons from Amber (I'm in love with you now) and he started fussing. I know I'm supposed to let him fuss it out, so I wait, and wait. Then the fussing turns louder into furious sobs. Okay, mommy...you can do this just wait a little longer. No such luck. After 20 minutes of crying, I go upstairs to check on him and there's at least 10 gallons of snot on his face, his eyes are puffy, and he's clearly very upset with me. I couldn't do it, how could I let a cute little face like that keep crying. Jakson-1, mommy-0. I decided to rock him and try it again, in the middle of his sobbing and my rocking, he looks at me and smiles. Can we say Naughty with a capital N? After more rocking, I attempt to put him down in his crib again because he's calm, breathing slowly, and asleep. So I thought... Jakson-2, Mommy-0. Rock, bottle, and repeat and he finally fell asleep. Wish me luck tonight.

Jakson and I had a busy day today. Woke up, ate breakfast, played, played with Grandma Hoversten, quick nap, then went to Jordan Creek mall to meet Emily, Max and Macy. We had so much fun and are so glad to have the Behrens family in the Des Moines area! Brett might not be too excited about it though because I spent some moola. It was 10% off Tuesday, what does he expect? Jakson is quite the shopper. He just LOVES to sit and watch all the people and doesn't miss a blink. He did have a quick cat nap while shopping for jammies at Baby Gap. What a trooper! People always say to live it up while he's this age because after long he won't sit still. I hope they're wrong...
