Last night was the first (of many I'm sure) difficult nights getting Jakson to go to sleep. For some reason he just wouldn't go to bed on his own. He needed a bath before bed so we fed him supper, gave him a bottle, Daddy gave him the bath (which is supposed to be soothing, but a bath with Brett is very OVERSTIMULATING for Jakson because Brett's constantly doing something to make Jakson laugh), and then I attempted to finish the bedtime routine with books, etc. I put him down and he immediately puts his thumb in his mouth. Okay, that's a good sign, you'd think he'd go right to sleep. I went downstairs to getting some blogging lessons from Amber (I'm in love with you now) and he started fussing. I know I'm supposed to let him fuss it out, so I wait, and wait. Then the fussing turns louder into furious sobs. Okay, mommy...you can do this just wait a little longer. No such luck. After 20 minutes of crying, I go upstairs to check on him and there's at least 10 gallons of snot on his face, his eyes are puffy, and he's clearly very upset with me. I couldn't do it, how could I let a cute little face like that keep crying. Jakson-1, mommy-0. I decided to rock him and try it again, in the middle of his sobbing and my rocking, he looks at me and smiles. Can we say Naughty with a capital N? After more rocking, I attempt to put him down in his crib again because he's calm, breathing slowly, and asleep. So I thought... Jakson-2, Mommy-0. Rock, bottle, and repeat and he finally fell asleep. Wish me luck tonight.
Jakson and I had a busy day today. Woke up, ate breakfast, played, played with Grandma Hoversten, quick nap, then went to Jordan Creek mall to meet Emily, Max and Macy. We had so much fun and are so glad to have the Behrens family in the Des Moines area! Brett might not be too excited about it though because I spent some moola. It was 10% off Tuesday, what does he expect? Jakson is quite the shopper. He just LOVES to sit and watch all the people and doesn't miss a blink. He did have a quick cat nap while shopping for jammies at Baby Gap. What a trooper! People always say to live it up while he's this age because after long he won't sit still. I hope they're wrong...
